Social Mainstreaming for Gender Equality Organization
It has been established on 10th August, 2015 by United Republic of Tanzania under the Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children(MCDGC) This is a National level Organization that have allowed to works its projects in Tanzania Mainland. A large and growing body of researches and gender projects has shown how gender inequality undermines health and development. To overcome gender inequality the United Nations Population Fund states that, “Women's empowerment and gender equality requires strategic interventions at all levels of programming and policy-making. These levels include reproductive health, economic empowerment, educational empowerment and political empowerment.
We,believe that gender discrimination and imbalance are the challenges that jeopardize the stability and wellbeing of the society in present and future generation, thus SMGEO as Non-Profit Organization are engaging to restore and promote equal integration of both male and female as well as disadvantages groups in the development projects for community benefit.
SMGEO was formed according to the willingness of the community people in a view to deal with the present socio-economic problems in different areas in Tanzania Mainland by means of good understanding and sharing the problems each other and to find out the best way of solving the problems through free discussion in different projects
We are always looking for students, staff who are willing to volunteer!
Volunteering can include:
Facilitator in different gender projects
Monitoring and Evaluation Expert for different activities
Different Social Officers for social activities according to their professionalism
Special Tasks: We need help with periodic tasks, such as button-making, preparing displays, and organizational tasks.
Outreach Assistance: The students, faculty and staff who can benefit from SMGEO programs and service care all over campus, and we need help to spread the word. This includes help posting flyers around campus, making announcements about SMGEO to classes and groups, and more.
Event Day-of Support: Interns need help the day of events to make sure that everything goes smoothly, including decoration, transporting materials to the event venue, and staffing the sign-in table.
Event Planning Collaboration & Support: Interns will also be looking for reliable volunteers who can collaborate and/or help with the event planning process - depending on the particular event.

Sit down and start preparing a sample volunteer profile (use this template) – you’ve probably done more than you give yourself credit for. Remember, we’re looking for candidates with varied backgrounds and experience and we are committed to creating equal opportunities and achieving diversity.
You have at least:
Diploma or Degree in Gender Issue,Community Development or any other Social Science Award.
Fluent English and Swahili in Written And Speaking
Smart and respected
Have demonstrated a commitment to global peace and development.
Are extremely motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable to new cultures and situations.
Are willing to step outside your comfort zone, proactively problem solve, and stay smiling while doing so.
Can dedicate between six and twenty-four months to your volunteer assignment.
Have volunteered or done service to others in your community, school, or internationally.
Are between the ages of 18 and 29 for the entire duration of your service (i.e. on the day that you END your assignment you must still be 29!)
Did you know? If you’re between the ages of 25 and 29 and you have more than two years of relevant work experience you may qualify to be a SMGEO in the 25 and older category.
